Crisp is using the [UTF-8](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8) encoding format witch is a nowadays a web standard (92% of websites a using it).  
  
UTF-8 let us to internationalize Crisp in [several languages](https://help.crisp.chat/en/article/what-languages-are-supported-by-crisp-1ivdmy2/) and to display emojis.  
  
Even if most websites adopted the UTF-8 standard, some websites still use deprecated charsets such as latin1, iso-8859-1, or cp1252.
